There was a lot of anger and resentment about all the elements of the Nintendo 64, such as the game not working well, the N64 controller not working with accessories, and not being connected to a PC. It’s no exaggeration to say that spending a lot of money on the Nintendo Switch Online Subscription Expansion Pack is probably not a good time.

However, Our lovely Jon Cartwright has put together a video about the N64 controller, or what he calls the “Big Boy”. There are some new ones and some different ones. For example, the fact that the Rumble Pak is contained within the housing itself, rather than as a separate chunky attachment. RIP, Rumble Pak

But even better, the controller Secret Dual analog stick. The C button acts as the second stick for games other than the Nintendo 64. John will try out Breath of the Wild, Demon Turf, Final Fantasy VII, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Dark Souls, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a video to show what’s possible.

Of course, there are some issues. You can’t remap the button, and you don’t have ZR or B, so you can’t access parts of the Breath of the Wild sword or FINAL FANTASY VII menus. However, if you want to play BOTW with just a bomb, you can still do it. Or FF7 without healing. Or Dark Souls without Estas Flask. It’s a fun challenge!

(As a bonus: there’s a bit of Jon ASMR at the beginning of this video. Enjoy.)
