Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands developer Gearbox says the Borderlands spinoff is the start of a new franchise of its own.

Gearbox Software has called the Borderlands spinoff a “big win” after a solid launch, and CEO Randy Pitchford said Gearbox sees it as a new franchise, with “future experiences already in development.” It is said that

Speaking at the Embracer Group’s annual meeting, Pitchford said: Over the next few quarters, we’ve established a solid beachhead and now obviously have a new franchise. ”

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was released in March 2022, adapting the RPG-style action of the Borderlands 2 DLC Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep and turning it into its own standalone game. It was well received by fans and critics alike. Clearly, the game has had enough commercial success, and Gearbox wants more. Whether that means additional games in the franchise or additional DLC remains to be seen.

IGN’s review of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was 8/10 and stated: As the spin-off progressed, it clung dangerously to past successes, felt a bit unoriginal at times, and some of the new things it tried, such as procedurally-generated combat encounters, didn’t pan out horribly. Luckily, the excellent writing, hilarious performances from an all-star cast, and ridiculous combat continue to shine brightly, making this tabletop-inspired explosion fest absolutely worth your time. ”
