With the early access to Battlefield 2042, many players are quick to do everything the game offers and see what they can unlock and earn while playing. During the search, certain players discovered that specialist Pyotr “Boris” Gukovsky had an episkin called “Little Green Man”.

This upset many, including: @ Waggle_ua, A person who asked DICE, the developer of Battlefield 2042, “Is it okay to jokingly include Russian terrorists who have occupied part of my country?”

For those who don’t know, the phrase Little Green Man Russian soldiers who participated in the annexation of Crimea during the 2014 Ukrainian crisis. Despite these soldiers wearing unmarked green uniforms and having Russian equipment, Russia initially denied they came from their own country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin finally confirmed that these “little green men” were Russians and turned out to be special forces dispatched to Crimea.

The developers also confirmed that they “renamed in future updates”, “unintentionally referred to real-world issues”, while “not reflecting team values”.
