Today’s Nintendo Direct has taken a closer look at Splatoon 3’s gameplay. This includes multiplayer matches and some of the single player settings for the “Return of the Mammalians” campaign.

Nintendo’s “Squid Researcher” explained that the Turf War mode was basically unchanged, but new main and special weapons were introduced. Air with a grapple arm.

Some brief information about plotting in story mode was also shared. It focuses on the reproduction of mammals in the Splatoon world, but no details are provided at this time.

Splatoon 3 was announced in February for the 2022 Switch release. At the time, we had a quick look at Squid Kid’s customizations and companion creatures, hub cities in big desert metropolises, and their ink-splattered competitive gameplay. We’re big fans of Splatoon around here, giving Splatoon 1 and 2 8.6 and 8.3 respectively, listing the latter as one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch.
