At EVO 2022, PlayStation is asking players through a survey what types of NFTs players are interested in purchasing.
On Twitter, user snorlaxownz posted a screenshot of a poll he received from PlayStation. Responses include EVO-branded merchandise, favorite music artists, favorite esports players and teams, PlayStation items, and favorite games with his characters.
IGN has confirmed the research at EVO, suggesting that at least PlayStation is measuring user interest in NFTs at the event.

The gaming industry has voiced its opposition to NFTs. Big companies like Valve have banned NFTs from Steam. Xbox’s Phil Spencer says that in the current iteration, NFTs are more exploitative than creative. However, other companies like Square Enix have started adopting them. Square Enix recently started selling Cloud’s Final Fantasy VII figures that act as NFTs.
PlayStation acquired EVO last year. Since he has no NFTs in the PlayStation Stars program, it’s unclear what stance Sony has taken on his NFTs. However, this research at EVO means they may still be under consideration.
