The PlayStation 5 console has been airlifted to the UK in time for Christmas, with three full jumbo jets arriving in the UK in the last two weeks and two scheduled for late November.
PS5 is increasingly scarce in the UK this year, but Sony seems to have begun to take special precautions to increase the number of gamers who have access to the new console by the end of the year.
According to the report by SunThe Boeing 747 jet has landed in London and is ready to ship consoles across the UK.
“A tremendous operation is underway to stock the UK PS5 shelves for Christmas,” a Sony source said. They also said Sony “just wants to keep its fans happy.”
“The 747 is rare after it was abolished by British Airways, but it carries a lot of cargo as a freighter,” sources added.
“Each plane can carry 100 tonnes of equipment on nearly 50 pallets, which means millions of gamers will smile this Christmas.”

In May, Sony CFO Hiroki Tsunei insisted in his earnings announcement that PS5 expects supply to be limited next year as well. That same month, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang reiterated these ideas, and the supply shortage of the RTX 30 series continued “later this year.”
Despite these obvious supply issues, Sony still sells 13.4 million PS5s worldwide, making it the best-selling PlayStation console to date.
