Japanese charts: Pokemon and Nintendo Switch dominate the holiday period

Famitsu’s Japanese chart figures show that Pokemon Brilliant Diamonds and Shining Pearls are still very powerful at the top of the mountain in the two weeks from December 20th to January 2nd. ..

The two games sold an additional 231,275 retail copies in Japan during the holiday season, bringing total physical sales to approximately 2.4 million. Again, the top 10 consisting exclusively of Nintendo Switch titles followed, with Mario Party Superstars in second place, with physical sales of 206,145 during the period.

Not surprisingly, given recent statistics on console dominance in Japan throughout 2021, Switch is also leading the hardware charts, with OLED models selling particularly well in the last few weeks. Here are the numbers for this week and the lifetime sales in parentheses:
