Halo co-creator joins EA to set up new Seattle studio

Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo and founder of Disintegration Studio V1 Interactive, has announced that he has joined EA as a game director.

Lehto announced its role on Twitter, revealing that it is building a new studio in the Seattle area. The new studio works in “first-person games,” but it’s not clear if these are original games or new entries in the existing EA series (start your Titanfall 3 prayer now).

“I can’t wait to share more about what we’re making!” Lehto concludes.

Lehto is best known as Bungie’s creative art director, who served from 1997 to 2012. After working on the original Halo: Combat Evolved, I’m in charge of creating the Master Chief. He continued to work on all of Bungie’s Halo games. Most recently, Lehto was the founder of V1 Interactive, the creator of the RTS / FPS hybrid Disintegration. The game was sadly unpopular and turned out to be very unsuccessful, and V1 Interactive eventually shut down. Hopefully he will have better luck at EA.
