Chocobo GP will switch next year

The Chocobo GP will appear exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Today’s Nintendo Direct featured trailers showing courses, characters, carts and more. In FINAL FANTASY spin-off racing games, you can race as many familiar faces in the franchise as possible, including chocobos, gilgames, and black mages.

The game also has a power-up called Magic Kite. Fire, Aero, and Doom power-ups are displayed. Other classic kart racing mechanics like drift were also shown on the trailer.

The game features online and local multiplayer. There is a multiplayer mode that supports up to 64 players in 8×8 elimination tournaments.

Square initially tried a Mario Kart-like racer on the PS1 at Chocobo Racing in 1999. Racing in Chocobo has appeared in many FINAL FANTASY games, including FINAL FANTASY XV.
