This year is also the time! No, it’s not the time to “skip the gym once” and never come back, or to remember if the wrapping paper is recyclable. This is Awesome Games Done Quick, a charity speed running marathon. week!

This year’s AGDQ is supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation and will run from Sunday, January 9th to Sunday, January 16th. Following the record $ 2.9 million for Summer Games Done Quick collected for Doctors Without Borders, AGDQ will feature a huge list of speedruns over the week to approach that $ 3 million.

Of course, AGDQ is a digital-only event this year (due to a pandemic), but livestreams will be on. GDQ Twitch page, When VOD will be uploaded to the channel a few hours later than the stream..

For a selection of notable ones, here are the speedruns and games we are most excited about:

Door of Death — 6:52 pm ET, Sunday, January 9

This 12-minute run will be run by Scrublord, the current owner of the game’s second-largest world record, and narrated by GDQ volunteer and streamer Game and Shout. 12 minutes. quality.

Part Time UFO — Monday, January 10th, 9:35 am

It’s worth a look as speed runner ykrin wants to run for less than 10 minutes just to see how beautiful the PTUFO is. They are currently the number one in the world in Any% of the game, but the last registered record is almost 25 minutes long. This is a significant improvement if successful.

Chicory: A Colorful Story — Monday, January 10th, 12:20 pm EST

There’s always something special about taking a nice, healthy, quiet game and breaking it completely to get a ridiculous speed runtime. However, Punchy’s 10-minute speedrun is comparable to the course. The current world record holder is a 5 minute 2 second run. They need to true I am good at painting.

Entire NES Block — Tuesday, January 11th, 5:58 am to 9:30 am

NES blocks are a staple of the GDQ Speedrun, a collection of games that no one has ever played or heard, so they are usually done at stupid times. Still, Bucky O’Hare, Willow, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.. There are more exciting NES games elsewhere on the schedule (eg Rockman 2 on Sunday 9th), but GDQ is all weird too.

Pokemon Crystal Key Item Randomizer — 11:06 am ET, Wednesday, January 12

Randomized executions are basically achieved by mods that shuffle what you need (items, dungeons, bosses, etc.) to create relatively unpredictable executions. It can break the game in a fun way, or it can make it almost impossible to play. It’s probably more fun to watch, it’s for sure.
